Jorge Bonilla is the Spanish Teacher for grades K– 8, as well as the World Language Coordinator.
He was born and raised in San José, Costa Rica and is fully bilingual in both Spanish and English. With this, your children will be participating in authentic introductions to the culture and idioms of the Spanish-speaking world.
Mr. Bonilla believes that learning a second language fosters academic achievement, improves cognitive development, and helps children develop a positive attitude toward cultures other than their own.
Mr. Bonilla has many years of teaching experience, including thirteen years with public elementary and high schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He has also taught Spanish at private schools and at the university level. His degrees in Spanish include a B.A. from Kean University of N.J. and an M.A. from the University of Massachusetts. He has earned a California Professional Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a Spanish Supplementary Authorization; a California Clear Bilingual, Cross cultural, Language and Academic Development Certificate targeted to the Spanish Language; a California Community Colleges Spanish Instructor Credential; and a California Professional Clear Single Subject Spanish Credential.
