The teaching of music develops pupils’ ability to listen and to appreciate a wide variety of music and to make judgments about musical quality. It encourages active involvement in different forms of music making, both individual and communal, developing a sense of group identity and togetherness. It also increases self-discipline and creativity, aesthetic sensitivity and fulfillment. Students learn technical skills and the core elements of performing, composing, appraising and listening. Private music lessons will be available during the school day and students are encouraged to take part in the after-school choir or orchestra clubs.
