Andrea Kelly- 6th & 7th Grade Language Arts/ Social Studies
I am delighted to welcome you to middle school language arts and humanities! Students will find these courses to be intellectually stimulating, where they can explore their interests and to reflect mindfully about their place in the world. I have been a teacher for over 14 exciting years, teaching language arts, English honors, and social studies in grades fifth through eighth. During this time, one of my students nominated me for a Johns Hopkins University Outstanding Educator Fellowship, for which I was selected. It was a very humbling, rewarding experience. Prior to teaching, I was a business executive, where I have had the opportunity to travel all over the world. However, after I had my two children, I was inspired to become an educator. I returned to college and received a Master’s in Education and began teaching at a private school. My children are now grown and attending college. As a native Southern Californian, I grew up by the beach, where I still love to spend my time. I also enjoy traveling, sailing, skiing, writing, reading, and spending time with my children and our cat, Jack (I love animals). My passion, however, is teaching, and I am excited to be a part of Oakhill Academy’s rich learning community.
